MARBLEHEAD, Ohio — A 75-year-old motorist was seriously hurt Thursday when his SUV went off State Rt. 163, went into an embankment, and struck four boats parked in a lot, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

John Walsh of Marblehead was flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition, a hospital spokesman said.

Trooper said Mr. Walsh was eastbound on Route 163 about 1 p.m. when his 1999 Chevrolet Blazer went off the left side of the road near Church Street in Danbury Township.

The vehicle drove into the embankment, struck a storm drain and the boats, which were parked in a lot, they said.

Troopers are trying to determine why Mr. Walsh drove off the road, and the investigation includes whether he may have had a medical condition, dispatchers said.

Damage to the boats was reported as moderate to heavy, the post said.
