PIONEER, Ohio -- A West Unity, Ohio, man was killed and a Cygnet, Ohio, woman was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash involving the motorcycle he was driving Sunday on State Rt. 15 near Pioneer, authorities said.

Craig Parliament, 66, was pronounced dead at the scene, in Williams County's Madison Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said. He did not wear a helmet, according to the patrol's Van Wert post.

Connie Shope, 35, his passenger, was taken to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, the patrol said. She was listed in critical condition. She did not wear a helmet, according to the dispatcher.

Mr. Parliament's motorcycle was stopped on southbound Route 15 at U.S. 20 about 6:20 p.m. when it was struck in the rear by a pickup driven by Delbert Drinnon, Jr., 27, of Mark Center, Ohio, who was driving south on the state route, according to a prepared statement released by the patrol today.

The impact pushed the motorcycle into a sport utility vehicle driven by Yadira Garcia, 16, who was turning from eastbound U.S. 20 onto northbound Route 15, the patrol said. Troopers did not say where she is from or whether she or any of her three passengers were injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

The incident occurred just south of Pioneer, which is about 56 miles west of Toledo.
