FREMONT — Two Fremont police officers were injured late Saturday night their police cruisers were involved in a crash while in pursuit of a motorist.

Investigators said the two officers, driving separately, were en route to assist a pursuit by another officer when their vehicles crashed at the intersection of Hickory and Wilson streets at 11:41 p.m. Saturday.

The fugitive vehicle sought in the pursuit was found Sunday morning and towed. The driver was not immediately found, police said.

The two injured police officers, whose names were not released, were taken to hospitals for treatment of serious injuries, police officials said. No other information was available.

The driver on the high-speed chase led officers through the city and county until the chase was called off after the crash, investigators said.
