MONROE — A Taylor, Mich., man was seriously injured Saturday morning when his motorcycle collided with a car in Frenchtown Township, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.

Lynn R. Skeans, 69, was northbound on North Dixie Highway near Monrona Drive on his 2002 BMW motorcycle at about 11 a.m. when he collided with a car driven by Dakota Tehotsirate-Piscopink Frazier, 21, who had been driving southbound in a 1988 Chevrolet Corvette and turned left onto Monrona Drive.

Mr. Frazier failed to yield when he turned, according to the sheriff’s office.

Mr. Skeans was thrown from his motorcycle and struck a speed limit sign, the sheriff’s office said. He was wearing a helmet.

Mr. Skeans suffered serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe.

He was still listed in serious condition when he was transferred to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo by helicopter, according to the sheriff’s office.

The hospital had no information on a patient by that name Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Frazier and a passenger, Mason J. Sovey, 19, of Monroe, were not injured.

Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.

The crash remains under investigation.
