A Toledo man arrested after shooting a gun into the air in front of a real-time crime camera pleaded no contest Monday to attempted carrying of a concealed weapon.

John Winfree, Jr., 23, of 1327 Waverly Ave. was then found guilty by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Linda Jennings, who scheduled sentencing for July 16. He faces up to a year in prison.

Dexter Phillips, an assistant Lucas County prosecutor, told the court that Winfree walked out of the Upton Bar & Grill at Marlow Road and Upton Avenue about 2:45 a.m. Jan. 25, pulled a loaded 38-caliber handgun from his pants pockets, and fired off several shots into the air in front of the police camera.
