The man who apparently tried to burn down a Masonic Temple in West Toledo managed to set his hand on fire at the time.

Today, Toledo police released surveillance video of the Monday arson at 5025 Secor Rd. At 4:56 a.m. it shows a man arriving in a vehicle, getting out, and walking toward the building. A bright burst of light  -- presumably the fire -- appears just off frame and then the man backs away only to run back toward the fire. When he backs away a second time, one of his hands is on fire. The man then gets back into his car and drives off.

According to a Toledo police report, when firefighters showed up on scene, they determined that a patio brick with a burning rag was thrown through a window on the north side of the building. Officials found the rag on the lawn.

The fire did about $300 damage, fire officials said.

Someone also attempted to burn the building on May 14, officials said.

An investigation is continuing.
