PORT CLINTON — One man was killed and five other people were injured, two seriously, in a three-vehicle crash late Saturday night involving a pickup truck and two motorcycles.

One of the motorcycle operators, Thomas Lamb, 53, of Boardman, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred at 10:45 p.m. on State Rt. 53 north of State Rt.2 in Ottawa County’s Portage Township, state troopers said.

His wife and passenger, Angela Lamb, 49, was taken by helicopter to Toledo Hospital to be treated for what the Ohio Highway Patrol post in Sandusky called serious injuries, as was Susie Gonzalez, 35, of Port Clinton, the driver of the pickup. A hospital spokesman said Sunday that there was no record of either being admitted.

John Rice, 43, of Toronto, Ohio, who drove the other motorcycle, and his passenger, Amy Rice, 42, also of Toronto, were taken to Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton. Troopers said they sustained nonlife-threatening injuries, as did Miguel Popoca, 37, of Port Clinton, a passenger in the truck. A spokesman for that hospital said none was admitted there, either.

The Highway Patrol said Ms. Gonzalez, who was northbound on State Rt. 53, turned left in front of the motorcycles.

The motorcycle operated by Mr. Lamb slammed into the right side of the pickup truck, throwing both riders to the ground. The Rice motorcycle then collided with Mr. Lamb’s, ejecting both of those occupants.

Seat belts were not used by the truck’s occupants. The motorcyclists wore helmets, the agency said.
