Inmate escapes from Lenawee County Courthouse

ADRIAN, Mich. -- A handcuffed, unarmed inmate escaped today from a Lenawee County Courthouse holding cell when a door lock malfunctioned, city officials said.

Scott Henning, 27, of Swanton, escaped at about 10:15 a.m. and fled westbound from the court; he was last seen near Miles Drive. The inmate is described by authorities as white, 5 feet, 11 inches tall, 180 pounds, he has light brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a light blue shirt and gray pants.

Officials from the Lenawee County Sheriff‘s Office‍ said Mr. Henning had been sentenced to spend 93 days in the Lenawee County jail for violation of probation on a reckless driving charge. He was put into the holding cell awaiting transportation to the jail when the cell door did not lock. He walked out a back door.

Officials suggest residents lock their homes and call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
