Arson suspected in 2 fires at N. Toledo home
6/16/2014Toledo firefighters responded Sunday to two suspected arsons in an abandoned house in North Toledo.
Firefighters responded to the first fire, which originated on the front porch of the two-story home at 111 W. Streicher St., about 4:20 a.m., said Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld of the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department. A second fire was reported at the same location at 8:22 a.m.
Lt. Hertzfeld said that there were no injuries from the fire. However, firefighters found a dead dog on the second story.
The house, which suffered about $25,000 in damage, is believed to have been vacant for months. Lieutenant Hertzfeld said a witness told investigators that 15 to 20 people were in the home the day before the fires cleaning up damage from a previous fire.
According to the Lucas County auditor’s Web site, the house is owned by Jamelia Curl, with an address on Airport Highway in Toledo, and has unpaid property taxes of $6,111.
