No charges have been filed after two men were shot in separate incidents on Monday night.

Just before midnight, at 11:45 p.m., Fred Mickles, of Toledo, was the front porch of 2806 Chestnut St. when he was approached by three men. One pointed a gun at him and told him to “Give it up,” according to a police report.

The victim swatted away the gun; the gun fired and a round struck the door to 2806 Chestnut. The victim then ran across the street seeking help.

Richard Morgan, of Erie, Mich., after hearing shots fired, was hiding on a porch at 2813 Chestnut when the suspect told him to “Give it up.” Mr. Morgan told the shooter he had nothing and was shot at three times and struck twice, according to a police incident report.

The suspects then fled in a small gray vehicle, police said. Further suspect descriptions were not available.

Mr. Morgan was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for “serious” injuries; a hospital spokesman today said he was listed in fair condition.

Also listed in fair condition at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center is Sherron Clemons, 19, of Toledo, who was shot once in the back of his right leg.

The victim, whose story to police changed during the investigation, was shot by another man in the 900 block of Norwood Avenue, near Waite Street, in central Toledo, at about 6:54 p.m.

Police said Mr. Clemons fired back at the assailant; a small revolver was found in a vacant lot near where Mr. Clemons was found.

Six people have been shot in the city since Saturday morning.

Police ask that anyone with information about the shootings call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
