2 still in critical condition after crash on Benore

Both drivers injured in a wrong-way crash Friday evening on the Benore Road bridge over I-75 in North Toledo remained in critical condition Saturday.

Joshua Carter, 23, and Jackie Wagner, 22, both of West Toledo, were in intensive care in Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

Toledo police continue to investigate the collision and released no new details Saturday.

Carter was traveling east in the westbound lane of Benore about 8 p.m. Friday and struck Ms. Wagner’s car head on, police said.

Carter’s car caught fire after impact. Firefighters freed Ms. Wagner from her car.

She was flown to St. Vincent by medical helicopter.
