Ohio Highway Patrol said Lesley Steward, 27, of 516 Rawson Ave., Fremont was driving east on County Road 41 at 4:32 p.m. when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of State Rt. 590. A car being driven northbound on State Rt. 590 by Bedabibhas Mohanty, 36, of Perrysburg, struck Mr. Steward‘‍s car in the intersection, the patrol said.

Mr. Steward’‍s front-seat passenger, Angelita A. Zavala, 25, also of the Rawson address, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Mr. Steward and his back-seat passenger Audrianna Steward, 2, also of the Rawson address, were taken by helicopter to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. Hospital authorities said Audriana Steward‘‍s condition was critical Monday evening. They had no information on the condition of Mr. Steward.

Mr. Mohanty was taken by helicopter to University of Toledo Medical Center. Information about his condition was not available Monday evening.

The intersection remained closed for about two hours while troopers and emergency crews were on the scene. Authorities do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
