A Toledo man was beaten, shot in the leg, and robbed of cash after using an ATM at a North Toledo gas station early Tuesday, authorities said.
Robert McCullough, whose age was not released, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, according to the Lucas County EMS. A hospital spokesman said he is in fair condition.
Police said Mr. McCullough had just withdrawn money from an ATM at Gas & Go at Cherry and East Bancroft streets about 3:40 a.m. when three men or teenage boys knocked him to the ground, demanding money as they punched, kicked, and pistol-whipped him. One of them then shot the victim in the left leg, according to an incident report issued by police.
Once the assailants got the victim’s money, they fled in a dark-color car down Walnut Street, police said.
