A Toledo man who threw fireworks at a police vehicle Friday will be sentenced in August.

John Hernandez, 39, of 2239 Dundee Ave. was charged in Toledo Municipal Court with unauthorized use of fireworks. He pleaded no contest and was found guilty. He is to be sentenced on Aug. 25.

According to a police report, officers Darnell Peters and Keith Hurst were driving with activated lights and sirens to a weapons call in North Toledo when the suspect threw fireworks in front of the police vehicle. After the call, the officers returned to where the fireworks were thrown, 1311 Erie St., and confronted the suspect.

The officers said Mr. Hernandez admitted he had thrown the fireworks. He was then arrested and booked into the Lucas County jail and released Saturday on his own recognizance.‍
