An East Toledo ice cream shop was robbed Monday by a man with a gun, police said.

Deb’s Soft Kreme, 1326 Navarre Ave., was robbed about 12:10 p.m. The man — described by police as white, in his 50s, and “shorter” — was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and black “beanie” hat. He fled on foot toward East Broadway.

No injuries were reported. It was not known if the suspect got away with anything.

Police also are looking for a man who robbed a West Toledo convenience store Saturday.

An armed man went into Barney’s convenience store, 1702 W. Laskey Rd., at 11:39 p.m. and asked the clerk for cigarettes. When the clerk turned back toward the suspect, he showed that he had a gun in his hand and demanded cash. The employee put cash into a plastic bag and handed it to the suspect.

The suspect was described in a police report as a light-skinned black man in his 30s, about 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt, burgundy sweatpants, and a blue baseball hat.

Police ask that anyone with information call the Crime Stopper program at 419-255-1111. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward.
