FAYETTE, Ohio — Two people were injured in a one-vehicle crash Friday night on a rural road in Fulton County’s Gorham Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol reported.
Driver Donald L. Kendall, 28, of Bryan and passenger John N. Phillips, 24, of Defiance were flown to Toledo hospitals following the crash on County Road N near State Rt. 66, which was reported at 9:54 p.m., the patrol’s Toledo post said.
The car was westbound on Road N when Mr. Kendall lost control and the vehicle went off the right side of the road and overturned, troopers said. Mr. Phillips, who did not wear a seat belt, was ejected.
Sheriff’s deputies and rescue crews, including from the Gorham-Fayette Fire Department, spent more than 30 minutes searching a cornfield by floodlight for the victims. The men apparently left the crash site and were found more than a mile away, authorities said.
Mr. Kendall was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where a spokesman Saturday said there was no information about a patient by that name. Mr. Phillips was treated at ProMedica Toledo Hospital and later discharged, a ProMedica spokesman said.
Troopers said alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remained under investigation.
