Woman dies after van hits her near St. Vincent

A 62-year-old woman died Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle near Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

Nazia Awada of West Delaware Avenue was pronounced dead at the hospital at 5:43 a.m., police said. Police said Ms. Awada stepped onto Franklin Avenue, near Delaware, about 5 a.m. and was hit by a minivan driven by Ralph Worthy, 60, of Norwood Avenue. Mr. Worthy called 911 and remained on scene, police said.
