Man who tried to sleep off bullet wound not shot

BLADE STAFF

Police said a man who tried to sleep off a “bullet wound” over the weekend was not actually shot.

Kareem Roberts showed up at a local hospital Sunday morning with what he apparently thought was a gunshot wound to a knee.

He told police h‍e’d been at Robert’s Food &‍‍ Spirits, 2635 N. Detroit Ave., at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, talking to women outside the bar, when he heard gunshots. He ran home, believed he had been shot, and decided to go to sleep.

When he awoke, he “realized he was still shot,” and went to the hospital.

In an updated incident report released Tuesday, police said Mr. Roberts was not shot, but that he “cut his knee while intoxicated.”
