Human remains found in Monroe Twp.
7/31/2014MONROE – Human remains were found in Monroe Township on Wednesday, according to Michigan State Police.
The remains have not been identified and the investigation is ongoing, officials said. Troopers from the Monroe Post of the MSP and two state police K-9 teams were out Wednesday searching near a quarry at Telegraph and Dunbar roads looking for Jamie Rachelle West, a Monroe Township woman who was reported missing. Officials were searching near the quarry based on information provided by the woman's family.
Once the remains were found, the Michigan State Police Crime Lab was called to the scene. Law enforcement officials are working with the medical examiner's office and a forensic anthropologist to analyze the remains in an attempt to identify the individual and a cause of death.
