WAUSEON -- The Ohio Turnpike’‍s eastbound lanes are closed between the Archbold and Wauseon interchanges because of a crash about three miles west of the latter.

The single-vehicle crash at Milepost 31.2 has injured five people and medical helicopters have been summoned to the scene, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol. Radio communications indicate nearby thunderstorms are complicating the airlift effort.

All eastbound traffic is being forced off onto State Rt. 66 at Exit 25 north of Archbold.

Another accident, in the westbound lane, was reported about a mile away from the crash scene. No further details on that accident, or if anyone was injured, is available.
