5 injured as van goes into ditch along Ohio Turnpike

WAUSEON — Five people were injured Friday in a one-vehicle crash that temporarily closed the Ohio Turnpike near Wauseon.

The Ohio Highway Patrol closed eastbound lanes of the Turnpike 31 miles west of the Indiana line for about 90 minutes after the crash that occurred at 3:20 p.m., the patrol said.

Rosa Barrios, 49, of Wau-kegan, Ill., was eastbound on the Turnpike and lost control of the conversion van she was driving, the patrol said. The van went off the road, overturned, and struck a ditch.

Mrs. Barrios and a passenger, Marbella Barrios, 17, were taken to the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon with non-life-threatening injuries, the patrol said.

Three other passengers, all of Waukegan, were flown to Toledo Hospital. Antonio Barrios, 57, was listed in critical condition Friday night, while Xiomara Lopez, 17, and Irma Rosiles, 54, were both in serious condition.
