An armored-car security guard briefly mistook a thief for a co-worker and the thief made off with a bag of cash during a stop at a West Toledo restaurant Monday, authorities said.

The Garda truck had stopped outside Chipotle, 3305 W. Central Ave. in the Westgate area, for one of its guards to make a delivery just after 5 p.m. The other guard, still on board, told Toledo Police she saw a man, dressed all in black, open the back door and take a money bag, but said she initially mistook him for her colleague.

Once she realized what had happened, the guard called police. A Garda supervisor responded to the scene and determined how much money was taken, but that information was not disclosed in the police report. Police said they have no suspects.
