An Ohio trooper sustained minor injuries when his cruiser was struck by another vehicle early today Sylvania Township.

At about 1:10 a.m., 25-year-old Trooper Nicholas J. Konrad with the Toledo post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, was eastbound on Central Avenue in his 2011 Ford Police Interceptor. The cruiser was struck by a 1999 Chrysler Ciruss LXI that was headed west on Central when the driver attempted to turn south onto Reynolds Road and collided with Trooper Konrad.

Police identified the driver of the second vehicle as 42-year-old Michelle Fugate of Toledo, and the state patrol said alcohol was a factor in the crash that remains under investigation.

Trooper Konrad was taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital with minor injuries and was later released, according to police. Ms. Fugate reportedly also had minor injuries, but refused treatment at the scene.

Sylvania Township police and emergency medical services assisted at the scene. No further information was available early today.
