A 94-year-old Perrysburg man's body was pulled from a pond today, officials said.

John Voland was pronounced dead at 7:25 a.m. Police received a call at 7:04 a.m. today about a person in the water at St. Clare Commons, 12469 Five Point Road. When officers arrived, St. Clare Commons staff were trying to get Mr. Voland out of the water; the body, as well as a motorized wheel chair, was removed by emergency personnel.

St. Clare Commons issued a statement today, which reads in part: “We at St. Clare Commons extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of the resident who passed away earlier this morning at our facility..... St. Clare Commons is committed to making sure our residents are safe and secure. We are continuously evaluating our residents and care plans to make sure every person is taken care of according to their individual needs.”

The investigation is ongoing with the Wood County Coroner's Office and Perrysburg police.
