Maumee police arrest alleged drunken driver, five others with outstanding warrants at checkpoint

Maumee police arrested one alleged drunken driver and arrested five other people with outstanding warrants during a sobriety checkpoint Friday night on the Anthony Wayne Trail.

The arrests were from among 571 vehicles that were checked during the operation at Country Boulevard between 8 p.m. and midnight. Twenty-two were diverted for further inquiry.

The person charged with drunken driving also faces a weapons charge, police said. They provided no identification or other details about any of the arrests.

Also during the checkpoint, two drivers were cited for operating with suspended licenses, one had no license at all, one had an expired license plate, and two were charged with child-safety restraint violations.
