The porch light at the front of the house was off, but someone, apparently hungry, had ordered food to be delivered to that particular house on Collingwood Boulevard on Tuesday night, and Brandon Lee had a delivery to make.

Mr. Lee, 19, was at the porch when a man behind him told him to “drop the stuff.” It would be the second robbery of a pizza delivery driver in as many days. Both were committed in the 3300 block of Collingwood Boulevard in central Toledo and, each time, with two suspects, at least one armed.

In the Tuesday night incident, both suspects were masked. One had a knife, according to a Toledo police report. The driver was not injured, but was taken for the food and the bag it was in, cash, a GPS, cell phone, and an Insane Clown Posse necklace.

The night before, Ronnie Dunklin, a 63-year-old delivery driver for Marco’s Pizza was taking an order to 3343 Collingwood at 9:30 p.m., when he was approached by two men, one of them carrying a baseball bat. He was robbed of the food and then attacked by the bat-wielding suspect who swung at Mr. Dunklin. A police report states Mr. Dunklin was able to block off several swings with his arms, but ultimately suffered a bloody nose. He declined medical treatment.

Mr. Dunklin was pistol-whipped and shot in the leg in January, 2010, while making a delivery to the 900 block of Homer Street in North Toledo. He was robbed in the 300 block of Kenilworth Avenue in the Olde Towne neighborhood in January, 2012. He was assaulted and robbed in the 1000 block of Ketcham Avenue in North Toledo in November, 2012. Mr. Dunklin could not be reached for comment.

Police Sgt. Joe Heffernan said restaurants that make deliveries can help protect employees by calling back to customers who order by phone to verify addresses before making deliveries.

Police have no suspects in the recent robberies, and suspect descriptions were not available. Anyone with information should call the Crime Stopper program at 419-255-1111.
