  • A Toledo Police sergeant was transported to a hospital after a passenger car slammed into her police vehicle while she was responding to a call of a person down.

The crash occurred about 7 p.m. Wednesday and shut down the intersection of Secor Road and Monroe Street in West Toledo. Toledo Police Sgt. Kellie Lenhardt suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from an unspecified hospital, according to a police report.

The driver of the other car, Mary Ellen Fink, of the 3800 block of Rohr Drive, failed to yield to the officer’s vehicle, police said. She too was injured, and treated and released from an unnamed hospital.

The sedan suffered front-end damage, and it appears an air bag went off in the police car.

Debris littered the intersection, and police said the intersection likely will remain closed for several hours for the crash reconstruction crew to complete its investigation.

Ms. Fink was cited for the accident, police said.
