Rossford police warn about recent catalytic converters thefts
Officers responded to three reports this week
11/10/2017The Rossford Police Department urges motorists be watchful of catalytic converter thefts.
Officers took three such reports this week from apartment complexes on Rossway Avenue and Lime City Road. Perrysburg Township police investigated additional incidents as well.
Rossford police ask residents to call the department if they see someone in the middle of the night purportedly working underneath a car. Officers will then check if the vehicle belongs to the person involved.
Catalytic converters contain platinum, so they typically fetch about $150 at scrapyards. Cars without the device produce a rumbling noise when the engine is on.
Officials suggest engraving vehicle identification numbers onto converters and parking in brightly lit areas.
