MONROE — A robbery suspect believed to have taken someone’s wallet at gunpoint was arrested by the Monroe Police Department.

The suspect, whose name was not released Wednesday in a news release issued by the police department, was taken to the Monroe County jail on charges of armed robbery.

The victim’s wallet and a black “airsoft” type gun was in the suspect’s possession during his arrest, according to police.

The suspect approached the victim at about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday in the area of South Macomb and East Noble streets, police said. The suspect then brandished a handgun and demanded the victim throw their wallet to the ground.

The victim complied, according to police, and the suspect took the victim’s wallet and fled on a bicycle.

Later, employees from a business at North Monroe Street and Steward Road called police to report a male matching the suspect’s description.
