Traffic enforcement blitz cites over 1,000

A 2½-day northwest Ohio multi-agency traffic enforcement blitz resulted in more than 1,000 citations.

The “Lights for Lives” operation was coordinated by the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Findlay post and nearly 30 agencies from Lucas, Allen, Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Putnam, Van Wert, and Williams counties.

The blitz ran for 60 hours from midnight Monday to noon Wednesday.

Officers stopped 2,238 vehicles and issued 1,038 citations, including removing 34 impaired drivers from the road and recording 102 seat belt violations.

Area law enforcement reminds motorists to buckle up and drive sober this holiday season.
