Woman killed in Lenawee County crash

BLISSFIELD, Mich. —  An Ida, Mich., woman was killed Tuesday morning when she lost control of her vehicle on U.S. 223 east of Blissfield and it overturned into a ditch, the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Amanda Marie Lowrie, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 8:23 a.m. crash in Riga Township near County Line Road.

The vehicle was westbound when its driver was unable to stop in time for slowed or stopped traffic ahead, crossed the center line, and left the roadway, deputies said. It overturned and came to rest in the ditch on the roadway’s south side, they said.

Ms. Lowrie did not wear a seat belt, and witnesses told investigators she “appeared to be involved in distracted driving,” according to the report.
