FINDLAY — A Findlay man led police on a high-speed chase for about 15 minutes before a flat tire ended the pursuit.

Findlay police tried to pull over Matthew Ekleberry, 33, at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Walnut Street for driving without an exhaust. But police said he fled.

A passenger jumped from the moving vehicle during the pursuit. An officer involved in the chase stopped to help her. She refused medical treatment and was later released, police said.

Mr. Ekleberry struck a parked vehicle during the chase, which covered about 15 miles in the city and through parts of the county, police said.

A flat tire and other mechanical damage brought Mr. Ekleberry's vehicle to a stop at Township Rd. 84 near State Rt. 12.

He is charged with fleeing and eluding, having a defective exhaust, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to control, and driving under suspension, police said.
