South Toledo man charged with rape

A South Toledo man is accused of raping and inappropriately touching a woman with a medical condition, according to an affidavit filed in Toledo Municipal Court. 

Tommy L. Hughart, 58, of the 500 block of Shea Street, is charged with rape, a first-degree felony, and gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony. 

Mr. Hughart is accused of raping a woman at his residence Wednesday as well as groping her, according to court documents. 

The victim has a medical condition where her body can overheat, causing seizures, court documents show. 

Toledo police arrested Mr. Hughart late Wednesday and booked him in the Lucas County jail. 

Mr. Hughart was arraigned Thursday in Toledo Municipal Court, where bond was set at $200,000 at no percent.
