COLUMBUS — Jim Petro, the former Ohio attorney general, state auditor, and chancellor of higher education, is moving soon to the shore of Lake Erie at Catawba Island, with plans to spend the winter months in Florida.
The high-profile Republican began his political career in Cuyahoga County and has lived in Columbus while serving in state government. The 64-year-old retired as chancellor in February.
“I was thinking the other day about maybe I should run against [state representative and Ohio Democratic Party Chairman] Chris Redfern,” he said on Monday.
Then he added, “Joke. Bad joke.”
