The Lucas County Board of Elections on Monday certified the petitions of 24 candidates and approved requests for 11 issues to be placed on November ballots, said Meghan Gallagher, director of the election board.

Three candidates’ petitions were rejected because of fatal errors. The petitions were from Richard Brink, a candidate for mayor of Harbor View, and Nicolas Wilson, a candidate for the Springfield Board of Education, both of whom submitted an insufficient numbers of signatures, and Curtis Lancaster, a candidate for Spencer Township trustee, who did not sign the statement of candidacy.

The board accepted Joshua Hughes to replace Michael Sheehy on the ballot as a candidate for Oregon City Council. Mr. Sheehy withdrew his candidacy after being appointed to the Ohio House of Representatives.
