Council unanimously approves $237,500 for sewer separation work
9/3/2013The Cherry Street sewer separation project moved closer to completion Tuesday after Perrysburg City Council unanimously approved spending $237,500 for sewer separation work and just over $2 million in waterline work.
The sewer separation and waterline replacement work will be done on Findlay, Seventh, and Pine streets. The area is the third phase in a sewer separation project that began in 1990. The project is on schedule to be completed in the next two years.
The waterline work bid came in under the $2.2 million budgeted for the project. Anderzack Pitzen, of Metamora, was rewarded the waterline contract. Arcadis, of Toledo, was awarded the engineering contract for the sewer separation portion of the project.
Also Tuesday the council authorized the city administrator to seek bids for a third phase of improvements to the city's Wastewater Treatment Plant.
A federal loan will be used to pay for a $14.8 million expansion to the plant to pay for the third phase of work, city council decided last month.
The Phase 3 expansion involves the installation of three aeration grit tanks, two clarifiers, a secondary sludge control building, two blowers, two effluent pumps, and an effluent pump meter. The city wants to begin construction sometime in 2014 after awarding a contract in the next few months.
The expansion is to prevent the plant from being at full capacity at peak times.
