Bell and Collins to face off in 7 forums, debates

Mayoral debates and forums are scheduled for today and at least six more times this month in Toledo, giving voters plenty of opportunities to see the candidates live or on television before the Nov. 5 election.

WNWO-TV, Channel 24, and WSPD-AM 1370 team up later today to host incumbent Mayor Mike Bell and City Councilman D. Michael Collins in a live debate in WNWO's studio. Jim Blue, the news director and 6 p.m. co-anchor of WNWO, and Fred LeFebvre, morning show host at WSPD, are the moderators for the one-hour forum that starts at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, the candidates face off at 7 p.m. in the Walbridge Park Shelter House on Broadway in South Toledo.

Additional forums are at 7 p.m. Oct. 15, Burroughs Neighborhood Organization at Burroughs School gymnasium, 2420 South Ave.; 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22, ONE Village Council, Chester Zablocki Senior Center, 3015 Lagrange St.; 12:30 p.m. Oct. 24, East Toledo Senior Center, 1020 Varland Ave., sponsored by East Toledo Club and Metro Press newspapers; 7 p.m. Oct. 29, sponsored by The Blade and WTVG-TV, Channel 13 ABC, and Oct. 30, by WTOL-TV, Channel 11 and Toledo Free Press.
