Only one of three Washington Local school board incumbents survived a challenge on Tuesday, with Steve Zuber keeping his seat.

Also elected were former board member James Langenderfer and Patricia Carmean, a retired district teacher whose late husband, Michael, was district superintendent.

Defeated were incumbents John Adler and Frank Erme.

Mr. Erme is often called “Mr. Whitmer” for more than a half century of service to the district as a teacher, coach, associate principal, athletic director, and board member.

Ottawa Hills schools voters retained incumbents Gary Wilson, David Arnold, and Troy Greeley, turning back a challenge from Jay Wollenburg.
