The two political chairmen of Lucas County — Ron Rothenbuhler for the Democrats and Jon Stainbrook for the Republicans — have been reappointed to the Lucas County Board of Elections, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted announced today.

The two men started their terms on Saturday. The board’s reorganization meeting, in which the chairman is elected, is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Rothenbuhler is the current chairman.

The secretary of state, by law, appoints four-person bi-partisan boards to head each county election department. The members serve four-year terms with one Democrat and one Republican appointed every two years.

“Serving as an elections official in Ohio is both an honor and responsibility,” Mr. Husted said. “I look forward to working with each newly appointed board member to continue our work to ensure that in Ohio it is easy to vote and hard to cheat.”

The secretary of state also appointed the following board members in other northwest Ohio counties: Defiance: Brenda K. Griffith (D.,) and Stanley J. Yoder (R.); Erie: Amy Grubbe (D.) and Christopher Marinko (R.); Fulton: Mary Garman (D.) and John Weber (R.); Hancock: Elizabeth Candler (D.) and P. Richard Larick (R.); Henry: Lowell Shank Jr. (R.); Ottawa: John Smothers (D.); Sandusky: Sandra Wise (D.) and Justin Smith (R.); Seneca: Mary Puffenberger (D.) and Janet Leahy (R.); Williams: Paul Duggan (D.) and Jeffrey Erb (R.), and Wood: Richard Newlove (D.) and Matthew Reger (R.).
