The French ambassador to the United States will tour economic and cultural sites in northwest Ohio on April 23, according to the office of U.S. Rep. Bob Latta (R., Bowling Green).
Francois Delattre will meet with local businesses and companies to discuss economic relations, will deliver an economic address at the University of Findlay, and will visit the Toledo Museum of Art’s new exhibit, “The Art of the Louvre’s Tuileries Garden.”
“It is an honor to host Ambassador Delattre in Ohio’s Fifth Congressional District,” Mr. Latta said in a statement. “During his visit, we will not only showcase all that our area has to offer but also demonstrate France’s economic ties to northwest Ohio.”
The Toledo Museum of Art is in the 9th Congressional District, represented by U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo).
Spokesman Sarah Criser said Mr. Latta is co-chairman of the Congressional French Caucus.
Ambassador Delattre was appointed to his post in February, 2011, after serving as French ambassador to Canada from 2008-11, Consul General in New York from 2004-08, and communications director at the French Embassy in Washington from 1998-2002.
He was a member of President Jacques Chirac’s foreign policy team from 1995-98. While in that job, he was in charge of European and transatlantic defense as well as handling the Bosnian crisis.
