Ohio, Mich. polls open today for primary vote

Voters head to the polls today in Ohio and some communities in Michigan.

Polls are open for voting in Ohio from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and in Michigan from 7 a.m. to 
8 p.m.

Issues and candidates on the ballot in Ohio include a statewide question seeking voter approval of a $1.875-billion, 10-year bond issue for capital improvements.

Voters will elect a Democratic candidate for governor, between Ed FitzGerald, the Cuyahoga County Executive, and Larry Ellis Ealy of near Dayton. Also on the ballot are Republican Party nominees for the 9th Congressional District, several state House seats, and one state Senate seat in northwest Ohio.

New school levy requests are on the ballot in Sylvania and Bedford school districts. Rossford voters will decide requests for replacement levies for recreation and police protection.

South Toledo voters will pick a councilman to fill the two years remaining in the term of former District 2 Councilman D. Michael Collins who was sworn in as mayor in January.
