Toledo confident heading into Game 3 at Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — As the Central Division semifinal series shifts from Toledo to Kalamazoo, the Walleye look to keep things business as usual.

The Walleye have a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series with back-to-back home wins Friday and Saturday night. Top-seeded Toledo, which won the Brabham Cup for the best regular-season record, takes on Kalamazoo in Game 3 at 7 p.m. today at the Wings Event Center.

“We did what we needed to do, which was to win two home games,” Walleye coach Dan Watson said. “Now we have to go there and we have to win a road game. It’s the next game now. That’s where our mentality is at. We’re going to go there and we’re going to take care of business. That’s our plan.” FULL STORY

 

Kalamazoo's Wilson slapped with indefinite suspension

The ECHL announced Monday it has suspended Kalamazoo captain Ben Wilson indefinitely as a result of his actions in a playoff game Saturday night against Toledo.

The league made the ruling after Wilson forcefully cross-checked Walleye defenseman Simon Denis seven times across his back in a stunning outburst in the first period of Game 2 of the Central Division semifinal series.

The veteran defenseman repeatedly used the shaft of his stick to strike Denis on his back as he lay on the ice after play had stopped at the Huntington Center. FULL STORY
