The 28-year-old was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for kneeing at 17:53 of the third period. He also was fined an undisclosed amount of money under the league's supplementary discipline rule.

It was the second time this season that a Walleye player has been suspended for one game by the ECHL. The league also suspended forward Tyler Barnes last November. In a game on Nov. 4 against Kalamazoo, Barnes was issued a major penalty and a game misconduct at 12:22 of the third period for a slashing infraction.

Fines collected by the ECHL are given to the league's player's hardship fund.

The Walleye open a three-game homestand tonight against Kansas City at 7:15 p.m. at the Huntington Center.
