It's never too early to make plans for the new year, especially when there's so a to do in one area. Toledo and Northwest Ohio will keep residents and visitors active in the months ahead, proving there's no such thing as a dull moment in this corner of Ohio.

The following are just 10 of the many things this area has to offer in 2004:

COSI Science Caf - Summer 2004

The Science Caf will be an ever-changing experimental playground

for visitors, allowing families to explore the connections between science, math, technology, art and everyday life.

Toledo Mud Hens - April 8-September 6

Welcome to the best Minor League ballpark in the country! The Toledo Mud Hens will come out swinging in April. Last season, a record-setting 25 games were sold out at Fifth Third Field, and many resulted in standing room-only crowds. This year should offer more must-see baseball.

33rd Annual Historic Old West End Festival - June 5-6

Tour our historic homes and Victorian Gardens in the largest neighborhood of late Victorian, Edwardian and arts and crafts homes east of the Mississippi. The festival includes an art fair featuring more than 100 artists, yard sales, kids' activities and food.

Taste of the Town - June 24-26

Taste of the Town is a three-day food and music lover's paradise. Sample an appetizing buffet of Toledo cuisine - from sushi to stuffed grape leaves to lobster bisque - served along tree-lined Jackson Boulevard in downtown Toledo. Kid-friendly fun, games and rides make this a popular family event.

Crosby Festival of the Arts - June 25-27

Heralded as Ohio's oldest outdoor, juried art fair, the Crosby Festival is celebrating 39 years of the arts. About 250 accomplished artists from across the country participate in this unique event, which grows to three days this year.

The Toledo Blues Festival - July 24-25

The Toledo Blues Festival is one of the Midwest's premier Blues festivals. For two music-filled days, the nation's best blues artists will jam in Promenade Park as festival-goers stroll the beautiful downtown waterfront.

20th Anniversary Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented By Kroger - August 2-8

Since 1984, the tournament has raised more than $4 million for 70 Northwest Ohio children's charities. The 72-hole event will be held at Highland Meadows Golf Club for a purse of $1.1 million, an increase of $100,000. And the final three rounds of the tournament will be nationally televised on ESPN2.

Northwest Ohio Rib-Off - August 5-8

The Rib-Off, which showcases the best local and national rib restaurants, will turn Promenade Park into a popular downtown eatery. United Health Services organizes the event and uses the proceeds to fund services for individuals and families affected by disabilities.

German-American Festival - August 20-22

Visitors will enjoy music, dancing, entertainment, food, drink and special events basic to our German culture as Oak Shade Grove prepares for one of the area's most popular festivals.

Meijer Toledo Air Show - August 28-29

The Thunderbirds, a U.S. Air Force aerial precision group, will headline the Meijer Toledo Air Show in August. The precision flying team consists of six F-16s whose pilots will perform 30 maneuvers in a 75-minute show at Toledo Express Airport.
