Area foreclosures continue to decline

Foreclosure filings in the four-county Toledo area continue to drop, according to RealtyTrac, a California real estate data firm.

There were 426 filings in April — default notices, scheduled auctions, and bank repossessions — in Lucas, Wood, Fulton, and Ottawa counties. That's down 19 percent from March and down 43 percent from April, 2013, according to RealtyTrac.

Statewide, RealtyTrac said filings were down 11.6 percent from March and down 43 percent from a year earlier. Nationally, filings dropped 1 percent from March and 20 percent from April, 2013.
