Red Wings, Bruins start series Friday

Detroit to host Game 3 on April 22, Game 4 on April 24


DETROIT — The Detroit Red Wings will open the Stanley Cup playoffs Friday in Boston.

The Bruins, the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, host the best-of-seven first-round series, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday at TD Garden in Boston. Game 2 is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday in Boston.

The No. 8 Red Wings host the third and fourth games at 7:30 p.m. April 22 and 8 p.m. April 24 at Joe Louis Arena. If necessary, Boston will host Game 5 at 3 p.m. April 26 and Game 7 on April 30 with a time to be announced, and Detroit will host Game 6 on April 28 with a time to be announced.

The NHL announced the playoffs schedule tonight.
