  • Vinita Singhnia of Sylvania and her daughters Vedika, 4, left, and Amika, 5, make an offering of water during the Yagna ceremony at the Hindu Temple of Toledo last Sunday. The Singhnias were among 108 families that took part in the ceremony, which is intended to uplift the soul and purify the Earth.

The families set up fireplaces under a large tent and built purification fires, in which they burned a mixture of sugar and ghee, which is clarified butter. Seven Hindu pandits from across the country performed the ceremony under the guidance of Anantkumar Dixit. The Yagna was coordinated by Dr. Charu Trivedi.
