Loved ones and friends of Toledo-area sons and daughters who met violent deaths gathered Tuesday during a candlelight vigil ceremony for the National Day of Remembrance For Murder Victims. The vigil was held inside the Blessed Sacrament Church, 4227 Bellevue Rd. in West Toledo.

The ceremony was sponsored by the local chapter of the National Organization of Parents of Murdered Children. The day is to honor the memory of all murder victims, and recognize the effect that the crimes have on victims' loved ones.

Members of the national organization have held the remembrance day since 1997.
