Volunteers sought for Guatemala meals

2/11/2011

More than 100 volunteers are needed to assemble 40,000 meals for Guatemalans, working in two shifts on Feb. 19 — from 10 a.m. to noon and noon to 2:30 p.m. — at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 112 East Wayne St., Maumee.

The church's Lutheran Compassion Relief Team is partnering with Kids Against Hunger to put together meals containing a mix of long-grain rice, vitamin-fortified crushed soy, a dehydrated blend of six vegetables, and a chicken-flavored vegetarian vitamin powder.

The volunteers combine the ingredients into individual packages and then seal them with a hot-melt sealer.

Coffee, donuts, snacks, pizza, beverages, and lunch will be provided. For information or to volunteer, contact John Bunde at 419-861-0723 or 419-450-0359.
