Oriental rug sale aids Pakistani poor

ARCHBOLD, Ohio — An Oriental rugs sale that seeks to break the cycle of poverty and promote peace in Pakistan is scheduled for Wednesday through Saturday at Ten Thousand Villages, 1201 South Defiance St., Archbold.

More than 300 hand-knotted rugs available in the sale were made by Pakistani artisans belonging to a group known as Bunyaad, which means “foundation” in Urdu. The rugs range in size from 2-by-3 feet to 10-by-14 feet, and are priced from $100 to more than $6,000.

An introductory seminar on Oriental rugs will be held at the store at 7 p.m. Thursday. For information, call 419-445-1926.
